Autobiographical and biographical material, family papers, vital records, correspondence, miscellaneous personal material, Caldecott Medal material, promotional items, newspaper clippings, and a scrapbook. There is also material for several titles, including sketches and/or illustrations, dummies, color separations, proofs, press sheets, manuscripts, typescripts, slides, a creche, galleys, and a hardbound cover. The collection also contains various miscellaneous and unidentified material. For twelve titles, Joseph and his brothers (1938); Literature (1946); A little book of prayers (1941); Martin the goose boy (1936); Miki (1929); Miki and Mary (1934); Miss Posy Longlegs (1955); Moses (1938); My very first book (1948); New trails (1930); and Off to bed (1954), the Collection holds sketches and/or illustrations. For Joseph and his brothers; Miki and Mary; Moses; My very first book; and Off to bed the Collection includes dummies. The Collection holds color separations for Miss Posy Longlegs and Off to bed. Hungarian children's author/illustrator, born in Toeroekszentmiklos, Hungary in 1888. Emigrated to the United States in 1912. Married Maud Fuller who was born in Kingston, New York in 1890. Born September 20, 1888 in Hungary, Miska Petersham came to the U.S. in 1912. He met Maud Fuller (born August 5, 1890) when both were working for the advertising agency International Art Service in New York, and they were married in 1917. Their first book was published in 1929, and they went on to have lengthy careers as authors and illustrators of children's books.
